How To Connect To Your Spirit Guides
One of the most powerful things you can do to unlock your intuition is connect and work with your unique spirit guide team. Spirit guides are such a commonplace term in spirituality. For those not used to working with their intuition, it can seem like such a daunting feat to achieve. Receiving higher guidance doesn't have to be as complicated as it seem. That's why I created this article to help you understand what spirit guides are, what their job is, and easy steps to take to establish a connection with them and quantum leap your life.
What Are Spirit Guides?
Spirit Guides are unseen beings assigned to you at birth. We all have an outer circle of guides that is vast, each with a very unique job. Then we have a "team" of inner circle guides that grows as we grow older. Their job is to look after your spiritual growth. Think of them as your unseen team of loving aunts and uncles. They help your growth by answering your questions, help you understand information and insights, and by taking an interest in the happenings of your life. They are you soul coaches and mentors. They are always there, ready to answer your questions and to help you understand the next steps to take to move forward in your spiritual development.
They relay the energy of our intentions to the universe and also call on other guides and angelic beings for added guidance as needed. They are a highly efficient team that manage our interactions with the spiritual realm for us completely.
As you grow, your spirit guide team grows with you. Your inner circle starts with one guide at birth and expands to 5 or 6 by adulthood. Typically between age 18-25. Their vibration is raised slightly higher than yours which gives them to ability to guide you towards your soul’s purpose. Occasionally some people gain an additional guide later in life if they’ve dedicated themselves to a specific mission.
How Spirit Guides Work?
Spirit guides help you make conscious decisions and offer sound insight based on YOUR intentions for your life (conscious, unconscious, authentic, on purpose, or not). This is so we remain solely responsible for our human experience. It's important to note that your team only knows and offers information based on YOUR path and purpose. Guides don't give you information regarding another person's life. There are other beings that do so, its just not your personal guides. If anyone comes up to you and tells you that their guides have a "special message" for you, they're way off base and probably have some issues with boundaries.
Mini Soapbox:
Spiritual insight should ONLY be given after permission is given by the receiving party. Unsolicited intuitive advice is unethical because it comes from the ego and asserts your free will over another's. If someone does this to you and you feel uncomfortable, know that you HAVE A RIGHT TO TELL THEM, "NO!".
How To Communicate With Your Spirit Guides
Anyone can connect with their Spirit Guides! It's not as hard as it may seem and doesn't require a psychic or elaborate rituals. It is something I feel is of the highest importance for EVERYONE looking to grow spiritually and to align with your higher purpose. Particularly, if developing your intuition is what your after.
There are three main components to connecting to your Guides
Maintaining a High Vibe State
Be willing and open to connect
Set an intention to connect with your unseen friends (they can't help you if you don't ask)
Once you have these three areas covered there are a few things you can try to start opening a deeper connection with your guides:
1) Automatic Writing
This is one of my favorite ways to communicate with my guides. All you need to do is find a quiet place and a time where you will have little interruption. Give yourself 15-30 minutes with a comfy spot and something good to drink. Grab a journal or a sheet of paper and something to write with.
Take a few deep breaths and say this invocation or create one of your own. “I am open and willing to communicate with my unseen friends and spirit guides to gain insight that strengthens and supports my highest path and purpose. So it is! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!”
After this, just write! Let whatever comes through the pen flow. Don’t worry about whether or not it makes sense. The point is to use our right brain. Try your best not to focus on what you're writing, the sentence structures, or the grammar. Give permission to the words to be written on the pages without judgement. Allow yourself to be an open channel of information. When you feel like you're done writing go back and read it and see what insight comes up.
2) Notice Signs, Symbols, and Patterns
It's common for guides to communicate with people with symbols and patterns. How many times have you seen people talk about seeing number sequences like 11:11, 111 ect. One of my spirit guides uses butterfly symbols to communicate with me. A client of mine who was doing her clearing work after a Soul Activation Reading noticed that during her process, her guides were sending her birds, after looking up the symbolism she learned that the birds were a symbol of the new spiritual freedom she was gaining through the work she was doing on herself.
For the next couple of days have an open mind to notice symbols. If you notice patterns, write them down. Try to ask yourself what you think the symbol or pattern means and then google it and look for similarities.
Remember, your guides are there to help you. You have the right to direct the conversation in a way that is comfortable and makes sense to you.
3) Follow Your Intuitive "nudges"
If you never do any of the practices listed above this is in my opinion the most profound yet overlooked methods to use. Often times the intuitive hits you write off as "just making it up in your head" or "that makes absolutely no sense" are the biggest markers for spirit guide messages and intuition in general. It's usually when it dosen't make any sense that your intuitive impulses are the strongest. Give yourself permission to play around with this without judgement
4) Let go of All expectations
Some of us including myself often have this idea that we need to actually SEE our guides in order to have a strong connection with them. This is what made the process very hard for me. It was when I let go of the expectation of how my experience would be that my relationship with my guides became easier and much clearer.
